You are absolutely correct but you are forgetting about the performance factor. In every dance audition/competition, aside from energy, power, and cleanliness, competitors must also add difficulty to prove they are better. It is relatively easy to show that one knows the style of dance well in a short period of time for the judges, they then must appeal to the non-dancer crowd to win applause. Every dance competition is the same way and will continue to be that way for a reason. Amazing job!

I agree with you, no need to knock this dance because it's not "pure" salsa dancing. I think it's way more entertaining and takes more skill to pull this off. Calling any of it nonsense makes one sound like a snob.

Just because salsa doesn't include that stuff normally doesn't make it any less neat to watch. Its probably harder in fact to add stuff like that into it.
